  1. Brian Leetch, D (1987-04)

Leetch quickly made a name for himself in the NHL after capturing the , an annual award given to the best player in his first year of competition in the NHL, during the 1988-89 season with 71 points (23 goals and 48 assists). Leetch also solidified his legacy by winning the , an award given to the NHL’s best defensive player, in 1992 and 1997. Leetch currently holds the Rangers’ all-time assists record with 741 and is second in Rangers’ history with 981 points. 

Leetch played 1,129 games, second only to Harry Howell, who played in 1,160 games for the Rangers. 

His No. 2 jersey was retired by the team in 2008, and he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009.
