Catching up on Haddonfield area tennis updates

HADDONFIELD, N.J. — Founded in 1902, the Haddon Field Club has been home to area tennis players for 120 years.  The club hosts USTA and member tournaments on its 7 Har-Tru and 3 hard courts.  Former HMHS varsity tennis players continue to compete in the club’s women’s members single tournament, with Deb Podolin Whiting, HMHS class of 1983 victorious over Emily Feicht Flasinski, HMHS class of 2003.  New members are welcome.

Haddonfield Girls Tennis captures the NJSIAA SJ Group 2 Title with a 5-0 win over Cumberland HS. The victory was their 21st consecutive Sectional and the 42nd in the program’s history!! Congratulations players and coaches!

Kimberly LaMaina was inducted into the South Jersey Tennis Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Kimberly earned four varsity letters in tennis at HMHS and was a dominating force on Hall of Fame coach Jeff Holman’s 1990 – 93 teams.  She had 36-2 record her freshman year which earned her All Conference and All South Jersey honors. She repeated those honors the next three seasons. In Kim’s junior year she was selected the 1992 Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Courier Post, and the South Jersey Tennis Coaches Association.  She was undefeated versus South Jersey opponents her sophomore and junior years.  She also won the South Jersey Interscholastic singles championships during the same two years.

Kimberly graduated from the University of Maryland in 1998.  She earned her law degree from Temple University and she is a practicing attorney.  Kim is married to Lefteris Banos and they reside in Haddonfield with their five children.
