Get to know Southlake Carroll HS basketball player Camryn Tade
SOUTHLAKE, Texas — If you haven鈥檛 seen it, you absolutely MUST find it on Twitter. In a thrilling game versus Fossil Ridge, Camryn Tade鈥檚 buzzer-beater from the backcourt was the exclamation point on the win! Last year, then Junior Co-Captain Camryn Tade won the team鈥檚 Most Valuable Player Award!聽 With 20 points & 7 rebounds per game, 88% Free Throw, and Double Figures EVERY game, it鈥檚 no wonder she received a myriad of honors, including All-Region, All-Area, and District MVP! Camryn is ready to make this season every bit as thrilling for Lady Dragon Basketball.
GETTING STARTED
My parents put me in basketball at a very young age, probably around 6 years old I was doing skills, so I guess I’ve been playing the sport for about 12 years and can’t remember when I wasn’t playing basketball. What does Camryn love most about basketball? Competing.聽 I love competition.
ACHIEVEMENTS
I’m most proud that our team has gone farther in the playoffs the last two seasons than the Lady Dragon Basketball team had gone the previous 17 years. I’m also proud of my District MVP honors last year; I felt like a lot of hard work paid off.
PRE-GAME
The funny thing is that I’m adamantly against superstitions, so I do things differently before games just to make sure something doesn’t become a “thing” I feel like I have to do.聽聽 Last season I did eat Pokeworks before almost every game, though.
SCHOOL
My favorite subject this year is Criminal Law.聽The topics are so interesting, and I love listening to the guest speakers we have and watching documentaries on crimes that have been committed.
PARENTS
My parents play a huge role in my sports, and they’re the best, most devoted fans.聽 My mom is at all my events – basketball, soccer, and school.聽 She also traveled with me for most of July during club basketball season.聽 My dad is a pilot, and he somehow works his crazy schedule around my games.聽 Sometimes, he has a flight out in the morning and flies home in the afternoon so that he can watch me play at night.聽 Their support means the world to me.
WHAT鈥橲 NEXT
I haven’t decided what I’ll do next year, I’m applying to the Air Force Academy and Naval Academy and some other big schools, including the University of Iowa.聽 My parents are from Iowa, and a lot of my extended family lives there – all Hawkeye fanatics.聽 It will be a tough decision for sure.
