Get to know Cooper HS athletes, siblings Austin and Maleah Alexander
UNION, Ky. — Austin and Maleah Alexander are an athletic sibling duo here in Northern Kentucky and have already realized some amazing accomplishments.
Maleah is a junior and Austin is a sophomore at Cooper High School. They are very involved in their church and in school as student leaders, while maintaining above a 4.0 GPA.
Maleah is a third-year starter for the Cooper varsity soccer team and will be a second-year starter for the upcoming varsity basketball season. 聽She has traveled across the country for both sports as well. This year, as the team captain, Maleah broke the record for all-time scoring, all-time assists, all-time hat tricks, and all-time hat trick assists for the school. 聽She was named to the First Team All-Region team and on the State Honorable Mention Team. Colleges have shown interest in her in both sports. 聽Maleah helped start the Cooper High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes club and is in the Freshman Mentor Program as a mentor.
Austin started on the Cooper varsity football team as a freshman DE and TE and ended that season as a Max Prep All-American along with additional district, region, and state honors. He will also play with the Cooper basketball team for the second year. As his sophomore season is ending in football, Austin is in the top 50 in the state in receiving yards at (439 on 30 catches), top 50 in tackles with 69, and third聽in the state in sacks at 11 on the season. Austin received the Skyline Chili Showdown MVP award recording a sack, blocked punt, and touchdown reception on that memorable night. 聽Austin has multiple college offers to play football and has visited some of the top campuses around the country.
Both student athletes understand the importance of making sure they take care of themselves through proper nutrition, stretching, getting enough sleep, and putting in the work through extra training and workouts.
Wherever their paths lead, their determination and dedication will surely help them succeed.
