The No. 1 player in the Class of 2023 is also the reigning Gatorade California Girls Basketball Player of the Year after putting up 23 points, 19 rebounds, six assists, six blocks and three steals in the state championship game. The 6-foot guard averaged 24.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.8 steals and a pair of blocks as a junior to run away with state player of the year honors. Watkins remains uncommitted and her decision on a school will send ripples throughout the women鈥檚 college basketball landscape, but the nation鈥檚 No. 1 overall recruit will first seek to repeat as CIF State Open Division champions.
