Adams HS cross country teams compete at Semi-State
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Both the girls’ and boys’ John Adams cross-country teams advanced to Semi-State after their October 15 performances at the IHSAA Regional Championships.
The South Bend Lady Eagles placed 5th overall, enjoying great weather and a rolling course. As a team, they finished with a team score of 154. Lexi Lawwill was among the top 20 finishers in the race, crossing the finish line in 10th place with a time of 19:59.
Emily Shepherd and Cecilia Frazee crossed the finish line right after one another. Shepherd finished in 21:22 and C Frazee in 21:23. Trinity Breathitt finished in 22:01, Delaney Packard in 22:15, Sofia Frazee in 22:21, and Rose Kelly in 22:38. This team advancing to the Semi-State is the first for Adams since the 2017 season.
The Boys’ Cross Country team ran well at OxBow Park in Elkhart County, racing their way to a 4th place finish overall in the meet. (The top 5 teams and the next 10 individuals advance from the Regional to the Semi State.) The Eagles finished with a team score of 123.
Bol Agwick ran a smart race on the rolling course and worked his way to a 4th place finish in the competitive field, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:12.
There were two other Eagles runners who were sub 17 and finished in the top 20 in the field. Grayson Wilson finished in 16th place in 16:42 and Michael Camilleri finished in 19th place in 16:51.
Isaac Howk ran a time of 17:10 and was followed by the remaining runners for Adams. Jonas Larsen finished in 18:00, Carter Keen in 18:17, and Ben McVeigh in 18:26. The team will make its second trip to Semi-State in three years.
Both teams will race in the New Haven Semi-State on Saturday, October 22 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
