Get to know Blessed Sacrament HS volleyball player Kennedy Dowdy
POWHATAN, Va. — Nothing can block high school Junior Kennedy Dowdy and the Blessed Sacrament Varsity Volleyball Team from achieving their goals. Dowdy and her teammates work hard year-round to prepare for their volleyball season at BSH. Dowdy started playing volleyball in 7th grade and transferred to BSH at the beginning of her 10th grade year.
Beyond enjoying the sport and playing alongside her amazing teammates, Dowdy says she has 鈥渓earned a lot about volleyball at BSH and hopes to keep improving.鈥 She attended several college volleyball camps over the summer, including an individual camp at VCU and then a team camp at Liberty University in Lynchburg. The BSH squad had a lot of fun and bonded as a team. That experience has benefited them both on and off the court.
Conditioning and practices for the current season started in August and the rigorous training schedule helped the lady Knights prepare for the tough games ahead. All the hard work has paid off for Dowdy, as she is currently ranked 1st in blocks and 15th in ACES in the Virginia Colonial Conference.
Kennedy’s commitment to the game hasn’t gone unnoticed. Head varsity coach, Cat Ringling said, “Dowdy shows up every day excited about this sport and excited to be surrounded by people that let her do what she loves doing.鈥 Post volleyball season will find Dowdy on the soccer field and basketball court which will keep her in peak condition for next year’s Senior season at BSH.
