Jalin Hyatt signs new NIL deal after historic 5-TD performance
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (BVM) 鈥 Over the weekend, Tennessee pulled off an incredible 52-49 victory over No. 3 Alabama in a game that was an instant classic for college football fans. A big reason for Tennessee鈥檚 upset win was the play of quarterback Hendon Hooker, and an historic performance from wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.聽
Hyatt caught six passes during the contest, five of which went for touchdowns. He racked up 207 total receiving yards, good for 34.5 yards per catch. Hyatt joins just a dozen players in college football who have caught five touchdowns in a game since 2000, and is the first to do so since Alabama鈥檚 DeVonta Smith in 2019. Hyatt also broke Tennessee鈥檚 single-game record for touchdown catches which previously stood at three.
As a result, Hyatt is taking advantage of the historic performance through a new NIL deal. On Tuesday, it was announced Hyatt has partnered with apparel company BreakingT to release T-shirts and hoodies featuring his name, image, the Tennessee logo and the phrase 鈥淕imme 5鈥 after he scored five touchdowns on Saturday.

The apparel can be with youth T-shirts costing $30, adult T-shirts costing $34 and hoodies costing $57.
Not only did the incredible performance against Alabama land Hyatt a new NIL deal, but it has also increased his following and NIL value significantly. After the game, the junior wide receiver gained dozens of new Instagram followers. His NIL valuation also went up from , as he is now ranked 31st among all NIL earners in college football, and .

The heightened NIL value only adds to the aftermath of Hyatt and Tennessee鈥檚 upset victory, which included getting to celebrate with former Vols legends like Peyton Manning.

Meanwhile, Tennessee jumped to No. 3 in the AP Top 25 poll, and is now in the driver鈥檚 seat for a potential College Football Playoff berth as they get set to take on UT-Martin on Saturday, and return to conference play with matchups against Kentucky on Oct. 29 and No. 1 Georgia on Nov. 5.
For Hyatt, he will look to finish out what has already been an already incredibly strong season on a high note. The 6-foot, 180-pound receiver is now up to 10 touchdowns on the year and has caught 33 passes for 595 yards.聽
Saturday was a day that will live on for quite some time in Knoxville and included a performance that Hyatt, along with a lot of college football fans, will never forget. Now, he gets to reap the benefits of history as he and the Volunteers look to continue their special season.
