West Jessamine鈥檚 Jacob Jones could follow in father鈥檚 footsteps
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (BVM) 鈥 The 2022-23 season will be Jacob Jones’ last year at聽West Jessamine. And while playing there, he has become one of . And as one of the state’s top-rated football recruits, one can see how Jones could have his eyes set on playing at the next level. Especially in Lexington.
At 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, Jones has helped the Colts reach a 3-3 overall record in his final prep season. Six games into his junior year, the Colts also had an overall record of 3-3 but finished 5-6. Jones and his teammates will aim to change those results this year. And with Jones on the field, the squad can do just that.
With Jones on the field, the Colts鈥 offense has been can鈥檛-miss. In six games, West Jessamine has averaged 41 points a game. And Jones is a big reason why. This past week (Sept. 23), Jones passed for 320 yards and five TDs. He also rushed for 210 yards and scored three times.听

With Jones performing the way he is, it wouldn鈥檛 be hard for one to see why his opponents would gameplan all week to stop him. However, it鈥檚 not only his opponent鈥檚 attention he draws. He has drawn interest from DI schools too. Those schools include Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) and his father alma mater, Kentucky.

鈥淕rowing up as a kid watching Kentucky Football made me fall in love with the game. So then to get an offer meant everything,鈥 Jacob said in an interview with.听
To go along with his success on the gridiron, Jacob started to compete in track and field. This past spring, he ran the 100m dash for the first time, where he posted a time of 11.56.听
Ran a 11.56 in my first ever track meet in the 100m dash, which was 5th out of 173 runners.

For Jacob, it鈥檚 an exciting time as he continues to show schools around the country that he鈥檚 an exceptional athlete. And looking at the numbers he鈥檚 put up, one could assume he鈥檚 just that. However, like any athlete, all Jacob needs is an opportunity to compete. And whether that鈥檚 in SEC, the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), or wherever Jacob ends up, he鈥檚 sure to compete to his fullest and help his future team win games.听
