Get to know Bay City Western HS athlete Erica Slocum
BAY CITY, Mich. — Erica Slocum, a senior at Bay City Western High School, was recommended by her cross country coach, Mr. Nesbitt. Erica is a driven, three-sport athlete who loves cross country, basketball, and track and wants to run in college. Her goal this year is to make it to States for cross country and track, and to be District Champs for basketball. Erica is outgoing, competitive, and hardworking 鈥� both on and off the court. Friendships fostered during sports are as important to her as the competition.聽聽聽
Being a member of a team has taught Erica many valuable life lessons. Coach Nesbitt has taught his student-athletes to step up when it鈥檚 their turn to be the leader their team needs, and Erica uses this advice in her daily life. 鈥淏eing a member of a team has taught me that you accomplish more when you work together as a team.鈥� 聽
Outside of sports, Erica enjoys spending time with family and friends. She works at Barton Woods Assisted Living where she enjoys working with residents on crafts. Erica said she鈥檇 be remiss if she didn鈥檛 take this opportunity to acknowledge her family, coaches, and friends as she 鈥渨ouldn鈥檛 have gotten to this point in her athletic career without them.鈥澛�
