2022 Midland City Championship football game quickly approaching
MIDLAND, Mich. — Whether you鈥檙e a fan of the Chargers or the Chemics, the 2022 Midland City Championship is THE high school football matchup of the season.
The Midland High Chemics are the home team for this year鈥檚 game. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on 10/21 at Midland Community Stadium.
The Dow High Chargers are the defending champs after besting Midland 25-0 in 2021鈥檚 regular-season finale. In the 2020 rivalry game, the Chemics were victorious, winning 32-6 to put a cherry on top of their undefeated regular season.
In the early years of the City Championship the Chemics frequently came out on top. Midland won the first six meetings in the series and 14 of the first 15. But Dow High has been a tougher opponent in recent years, winning six of the last 10 games.
The Chemics’ longest winning streak in the series is eight, which has happened twice 鈥� 1977-1984 and 2003-09. The Chargers’ longest winning streak in the series is four 鈥� 2014-16, including a playoff win.
