Larson was a part of Giants teams that went to three straight NFL championship games from 1961 to 1963. The center also had postseason success at the University of Minnesota, which he attended following his time at Roosevelt High School. As a Gopher, he was a part of a 1960 team that were co-Big Ten champions and the consensus national champions. His contributions to Minnesota earned him induction into the .
