Harris played football and competed in wrestling at Cretin-Derham High School. The recruit had multiple DI offers, played in the Army All-American Bowl and decided to go to the University of Notre Dame. Harris was a four-year starter for the Fighting Irish and that earned him a third round selection by the Denver Broncos in the 2007 NFL Draft. Harris was a starting tackle throughout his 10-year career, starting 70 of the 114 games he played in. After his first four year with the Broncos, he spent two seasons with the Houston Texans and one season with the Kansas City Chiefs before returning to Denver in 2015.
