Pine Creek HS softball team undefeated through two games to start season
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — 鈥�We鈥檙e excited to prove ourselves this year and make a name for Pine Creek,鈥� says Hana Pavelko (7), a senior at Pine Creek, and a first baseman for the Eagles. She is in her fourth year playing softball at Pine Creek. As of her first two games in the season, she has a 0.333 batting average, which is above the national average. In October, the Eagles will face two mighty opponents, Canon City and Pueblo Centennial. As of the writing of this article, Pine Creek is 2-0, Canon City is 0-2 and Pueblo Centennial is 1-1.
Pine Creek鈥檚 first game of the season was against Woodland Park, and they won 19-7. Their second game was against Canon City, and they crushed them 16-1. Canon City will be seeking revenge for this loss on October 7, when they will once again take on the Eagles.
As of Pine Creek鈥檚 first two games, Cheyanne McGhee (20) has a 1.000 batting average and a 1.000 on base percentage. Ania Edwards (17) has one home room, and Makenzie Eberly (23) has 4 stolen bases. Emma Harrel (5) and Grace Kempf (6) each have two doubles. Kennedy Thomason (25) has one triple.
Canon City鈥檚 first game was against Falcon, to whom Canyon City lost 4-11. In their second game, Canyon City lost to the Eagles. As of the first two games, Hailey Bethel (9) has the best batting average and on base percentage of 0.500. Hailey Wheeler (11) has two stolen bases, and Hailey Bethel (9) has one double and one triple.
Pueblo Centennial is 1-1, as they have beaten Sierra 10-3 and lost to Lewis Palmer 5-15. As of their first two games, Roxie Rodriguez (9) has a 0.500 batting average and a 0.571 on base percentage. Adrianna Lopez (10) has one home run. Jacelynn Shadbolt (4) has two stolen bases. Stephanie Velasquez (25), Roxie Rodriguez (9) and Hailey Maes (19) all have one double.
