Central Catholic pole vaulter Isaiah Whitaker sets world record at Junior Olympic Games
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Central Catholic freshman Isaiah Whitaker set a world record for his age group in the pole vault at the 56th annual AAU Junior Olympic Games in Greensboro, N.C., in August.
Whitaker cleared 16 feet, 2 inches to break the record for 14-year-olds.
In May, Whitaker cleared 15 feet to set an Illinois Elementary School Association record during the state meet in May for Corpus Christi.
The 6-foot-2 Whitaker is also a wide receiver for the Central Catholic football team.
