Martin County defeats Wellington with scoring outburst
STUART, Fla. — The Martin County Varsity Football Team took their third win in the third game of the season against Wellington Community High School on September 2nd. Â With it being their first home game of the season, stands were packed, and fans cheered on the Tigers as their offense and defense thwarted the competition.
Wellington was shut out for most of the evening, with the Tigers only giving them a total of 171 yards. The Tigers managed to complete two quarterback sacks, forced four turnovers, and had more than 20 tackles between several of the Tigers’ defensive team.
The offensive team scored an impressive 42 points, with five touchdown passes being credited to Sophomore Quarterback, Jayden Vega. All combined, the offensive team led with a total of 333 yards, 216 through the air, and 117 on the ground.
