Get to know Lovejoy basketball player, Lucas area resident Cailyn Newhouse
LUCAS, Texas — Cailyn Newhouse鈥檚 prowess on the basketball court has already earned her the coveted title of MVP. Her hard work and determination are helping her to become the best basketball player she can be.
She is now in her eighth year of playing the sport. In that time, she has played for the Lady Warriors, Shooting Stars, LOJO, and Prime teams. She has received a lot of advice over the years but the most memorable has been 鈥淭here鈥檚 a choice you make in everything you do, and you must always keep in mind the choice you make, makes you.鈥�
While mistakes are common in every sport, Cailyn makes sure she immediately gets back on defense and works at using the techniques in her games that she has learned during practice. With a motto of 鈥淏elieve you can and you鈥檙e halfway there,鈥� it is easy to see why she earned that MVP award.
Prior to the starting buzzer sounding, Cailyn likes to listen to Goosebumps by Travis Scott as she thinks through what she is going to do and how she is going to contribute to her team. Being a member of a team has taught her accountability, as well as friendship in life鈥檚 ups and downs.
In honor of her late grandfather, Dallas Cowboys Robert Newhouse, Cailyn proudly wears the #44 jersey.
When she is not on the court, she likes crafting, hanging out with family and friends, and traveling.
