Yavapai College soccer and volleyball seasons underway
PRESCOTT, Ariz. — The Yavapai College men鈥檚 soccer team faced off against the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes on the road on Tuesday night in its season opener and emerged victorious with a 4-1 score.聽 The season-opening victory was also the first collegiate coaching victory for Head Coach Chris Houser.聽 鈥淔irst off, congrats to the women鈥檚 team: it was a great night for YC soccer,鈥� said Houser after watching the women win 3-1 before his squad鈥檚 game. 鈥淲hether it was my first win or 100th win, I couldn鈥檛 be more excited to see this team get better.”
The Yavapai College women鈥檚 soccer team kicked off its 2022 campaign with a 3-1 road victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes for the second time in program history.
聽鈥淚t鈥檚 always great to start off the season with a win,鈥� Head Coach Rozie DeWeese said. 鈥淚 love that we have a strong sophomore class, combined with a very good incoming class. We came out strong and aggressive and scored early, which was fun to watch. We certainly have some things to improve upon, but overall it was a great first game.鈥�
鈥淐oach Ryder [Vanderheyden] is a tremendous value to the team and to me, so I am excited to have him on the sideline with me. The team is starting to come together. As the head coach, I feel it鈥檚 all about getting better every day, on and off the field. When we stay disciplined, we are able to be creative. If you like good soccer, come out and support YC men鈥檚 soccer!鈥�
