QB Reyn Beal looks to lead Yorba Linda to state title as senior
YORBA LINDA, Calif. (BVM) 鈥� The Yorba Linda High School football team began the 2022 season with momentum from last year鈥檚 undefeated regular season. No Mustang will be more important to the continued success of the team than senior quarterback Reyn Beal.
Beal has already cemented himself as one of the best players to put on a Yorba Linda uniform and it isn鈥檛 by happenstance. He began training for the quarterback position at the age of 6 with former Mater Dei quarterback Nick Stremick. Stremick taught Beal the fundamentals of the position, starting with footwork and taking snaps under center. His love for the game started here and led to a tenacious work ethic as he ascended through youth football into high school.
Despite the focus on football, Beal is a well-rounded individual. Along with playing lacrosse, basketball, and baseball, he sees the value in school and the community too. With a 4.5 GPA, Beal is a member of the National Honors Society and the California Scholarship Federation. When he鈥檚 not focusing on his athletics or schoolwork, he鈥檒l take the time to volunteer at Mary鈥檚 Kitchen, an organization that provides meals for the homeless in North Orange County.
Beal has found a way to balance it all and still be his best on the gridiron. While playing in a run-first offense, he has managed to break all passing records that were held by previous Yorba Linda quarterbacks despite his first season as the starter occurring during the shortened COVID-19 season in 2020. Through 17 games in his first two seasons at the head of the offense, Beal accumulated 42 touchdowns to seven interceptions and over 4,000 yards, leading the team to a 15-2 record over his first 17 games.
Yorba Linda fans and college scouts will keep a close eye on Reyn Beal throughout his final season. With early offers from Drake and Tufts, he鈥檒l likely have the opportunity to showcase his talents to a larger audience in the future. But for now, his focus is on leading his squad back to the playoffs.
