Three soccer players from Plymouth North will continue at Division I schools

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Many student-athletes have most likely dreamed about playing Division I, practicing in some of the best facilities in the country, and performing in front of hyped-up crowds. At some point, reality usually sets in. The competition to play at a Division I school is fierce. Plymouth North High School 2022 graduates, Megan Banzi, Carly Schofield, and Kylee Carafoli, certainly are beating the odds.

We sat down with Plymouth North Varsity head coach, Eric Foley, to learn a little bit more about what makes these three young women outliers.

鈥淓ach of these young women has their own very unique talents that set them apart from other college prospects. Megan Banzi is the complete package. She is so versatile. She earned twelve Varsity letters in soccer, basketball, and softball over her four years at North. That鈥檚 rare. You can put her anywhere on the soccer field. Carly is fast and a true goal scorer. Her speed combined with the ability to finish with both feet along with her sense around the goal makes her a determined goal scorer. Carly also has played a ton of soccer at a high level and trains really well. Kylee is a very accomplished softball player, and I think those instincts on the diamond crossed over to goalkeeper. She doesn鈥檛 struggle with the high ball. Her hand and eye coordination, reaction, and timing just make for an excellent goalkeeper.

鈥淢egan, Carly, and Kylee were great role models for our younger players. They all lead by example. No one could question their commitment and mindset,鈥 said Coach Foley.

We asked the trio each a question before they headed off to preseason camp at their respective universities:

What have you done to prepare for playing at the Division I level?

Carly (Central Connecticut State University): Putting in a lot more time into my training and making more sacrifices. I have to ensure I am training harder and recovering well. I have spoken with my new teammates, and I know it鈥檚 going to be a lot harder, and I am prepared for that.

What do you think the biggest challenge is going to be for you?

Megan (UMass Lowell): I think getting used to their style of play, adapting to practice and game schedules, and being able to time manage my schoolwork and be able to play soccer.

What excites you the most about playing soccer at the Division I level?

Kylee (University of Vermont): I am extremely excited to play in a different atmosphere with a bigger crowd. I also look forward to seeing how strong the competition level is going to be. I鈥檓 nervous but really excited!

Congratulations, Megan, Carly, and Kylee!聽 We look forward to following your college careers!
