Austin NFL stars highlighted by Drew Brees, Baker Mayfield
3. Nick Foles, Westlake
Foles’ name slots in favorably next to a few other quarterbacks that left their mark at Westlake High School. The standout football and basketball player threw for over 5,000 yards and 56 touchdowns as a two-year starter at the program, breaking a handful of school records previously held by the No. 1 player on this list. His success on the basketball court mirrored his play on the field, receiving team MVP honors twice during his three years playing. Foles would go on to play at Michigan State for a season before transferring to Arizona as a redshirt freshman. After a 4,000-yard passing season as a senior, Foles would head to Philadelphia after being selected by the Eagles in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. An up-and-down opening to his career would lead to an appearance in Super Bowl LII, where Foles would lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl win, earning MVP honors after beating Tom Brady and the Patriots.
