Austin NFL stars highlighted by Drew Brees, Baker Mayfield
1. Drew Brees, Westlake
Brees manufactured a historic run during his final season at Westlake leading the Chaparrals to a 16-0 record and the program鈥檚 first 5A State Championship during his senior campaign. The two-year starting quarterback was selected as the Texas High School 5A Most Valuable Offensive Player in 1996 and finished his high school career with a 28-1-1 record. Brees would go on to set 13 Big Ten records during his time at Purdue including most passing yards at 11,792, and most touchdown passes with 90, a record that has since been broken. The college success would lead to a second-round selection in the 2001 NFL Draft for Brees who went on to enjoy a Hall of Fame career spanning 20 NFL seasons. The 6-foot quarterback racked up 13 Pro Bowl appearances, one first-team All-Pro selection, a Super Bowl trophy and the Super Bowl XLIV MVP.
