Meet Dothan running backs Raymon Blackmon, Tamarion Peterson, and Octavious Thomas
DOTHAN, Ala. — Meet Dothan High School鈥檚 running back trio鈥aymon Blackmon (senior), Tamarion Peterson (junior), and Octavious Thomas (senior).
My first question for the three was, 鈥淗as new coach, Jed Kennedy, made a difference with the football program?鈥. The two words from Blackmon was 鈥済ame changer鈥. The other two totally agreed. Blackmon continued, 鈥淧ractice is different. Workouts are different and he really holds everyone to a different standard. He can be tough with you, but he is going to love on you after.鈥 Thomas said, 鈥淗e treats everybody the same.鈥 Peterson added, 鈥淐oach has really changed the culture. Things like being on time are really important. We really look like a team now.鈥
Blackmon has been playing football since he was four years old. In addition to playing running back for the Wolves he also plays slot receiver. His goal is to play at the college level and eventually coach football. Blackmon is a two-sport athlete. He plays on the Wolves Basketball Team, too.
Running back is the key position for Peterson although he does have experience at linebacker from his middle school days. His post-high school goals include playing football at the college level and in the NFL. He eventually wants to be in some role in the sports training industry and is interested in possibly becoming a chef. Peterson also plays Wolves Basketball and he plans to run track next spring for the Wolves.
Thomas plays running back and safety. Like Peterson, he wants to play in college and in the NFL. Both his dad and his brothers are welders and he is interested in following in their footsteps if professional football doesn鈥檛 work out. 聽Thomas is also on the track team.
All three Wolves are excited about the football season and they think their chances are pretty good at winning a lot of games. They are sure the whole team is faster and stronger and truly coming together. Blackmon said, 鈥淓veryone has bought in to what Coach Kennedy is trying to do.鈥 Good luck to this triple threat and congrats on being our Athlete(s) of the Month!
