Get to know Ramapo baseball player, recent graduate Niko Logothetis

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. — Niko Logothetis may admire the pitching styles of New York Yankees pitchers Mariano Rivera, Nestor Cortes Jr. and Pedro Martinez but it was his style that led the Ramapo High School Raiders Boys Varsity Baseball team to a victorious season.

The Raiders were the 2022 North 1, Group 3 State Sectional Title champions when they beat Montville with a score of 3 – 2.

鈥淭he team hasn鈥檛 won this title since 2005 so it was very exciting,鈥 said Niko.

The talented Raiders team earned Niko and teammates Matt Fais, Payne Teel, Michael Whooley, Jack Klein, Jake Lopez, Connor Saslow, and JT Psirogianes recognition on the Big North Conference, Freedom Division, All-Star Selection.

鈥淚 was also selected to the First Team All North Jersey, First Team All Group 3and Third Team All-State,鈥 said Niko.

Besides the championship game, Niko says one of his most memorable games was when Ramapo beat Don Bosco Prep in the Bergen County quarterfinals.

鈥淭hey were the #1 team and top team in the county,鈥 said Niko.

Niko was once again tapped to take the mound and put his pitching skills on display at the NJSIAA All-Star game.

鈥淚 pitched three strikeouts in the inning I pitched,鈥 said Niko.鈥滶ach pitcher selected had one inning to pitch.鈥

Niko has a high school career stat of 1,606 pitch count. He throws between 93-99 pitches per game.

鈥淚 stretch after a game and do shoulder exercises as well as physical therapy to keep my shoulder heathy,鈥 said Niko.

His ball playing began with Wyckoff Recreation and Wyckoff Travel Baseball teams.

鈥淲hen I was in eighth and ninth grade I trained at Teels Baseball & Softball Training Center and played for the Teels Ravens team,鈥 said Niko.

In addition to high school games, Niko played on the Complete Game Colonials team during his sophomore and junior years.

鈥淚 played in many tournaments and showcases in hopes of getting recruited to play in college,鈥 said Niko.

While his high school scoreboard is complete, Niko is grateful to the people who supported him during many baseball seasons.

鈥淚 want to thank my Ramapo coaches Garrison Ward and Mike Esposito for being very motivating, 鈥 said Niko.鈥漈hey helped the team and me to get into a great mindset before the big games.鈥

Niko also appreciates the support of his family.

鈥淢y parents Corrine and George have been supportive of all my baseball training,鈥 said Niko. 鈥淭hey gave me the opportunities to better my skills every year.鈥

Niko worked as an assistant coach at Teels Baseball & Softball Training Center this summer before heading to Stockton University where he will be a player on the 鈥淥spreys鈥 baseball team.
