Q&A with Greenall football player Tanner Weir
BALGONIE, Saskatchewan — Tanner Weir is a member of the Greenall High School football team as well as a member of the Saskatchewan Selects. This summer he represented Saskatchewan on the U18 Provincial team, competing at the Canada Cup in Kelowna.
The defensive lineman will be a top recruit as he enters his senior year at Greenall this fall. I sat down with him for a Q & A.
What are your personal goals?
Tanner Weir: My goal is to play football after high school.
What is your biggest challenge in football?
Weir: Personally, my biggest challenge for me is when I鈥檓 on the sidelines and the other team gets a big play. That can really get in my head.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Weir: My parents always tell me to try 100% or don鈥檛 try at all.
What is the best piece of advice you have received from a coach?
Weir: The best advice was learning that a mistake is the best way to learn and improve as a player.
What do you love most about your sport?
Weir: I love that football is a team sport where everyone works together to try and win. I like that every coach teaches and coaches a little differently so I鈥檓 constantly learning new moves and skills.
Do you have a pre-game ritual?
Weir: My dad always makes me a pre-game egg sandwich. We have been doing that ritual for a few years now. I also like to listen to music to get focused and locked in.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Weir: I like to spend time with my friends and family.
