La Porte area sports wrap up spring season with multiple championships
LA PORTE, Ind. — A highly successful La Porte High School baseball season came to an end with a 5-2 loss to the South Bend Adams Eagles.
Reliever Shane Weaver (7-1) suffered his first loss of the year, giving up three runs on four hits to the Eagles in 4.2 innings, with only one run earned. He finished the season with an outstanding 1.49 ERA.
Starting pitcher R J Anglin and infielder Kade Flores provided the offense for the Slicers, each driving in a run. La Porte batters had four hits off of Eagles pitching. An efficient outing by Adams starter Jake Mulvehill mostly kept Slicer hitting in check, striking out four in seven innings.
Slicers Varsity Baseball finished the season with a strong record of 23-4, with a second place showing of 11-3 in the competitive Duneland Conference. The leading pitcher for La Porte was Weaver and the leading run producer was Flores, with 32 runs scored and a .505 OBP.

- The boys varsity track team won their first Regional Championship in school history at Valparaiso. At the state track championships in Bloomington, the top Slicer in individual events was Cole Raymond, finishing sixth in the 800 meters and setting a personal record time of 1:54.36.
- Also at Bloomington, the top individual girls track competitor for LaPorte was Lila Gillesse, finishing 8th in the 3200 meters with a personal best time of 10:46.22.
- The La Porte High School golf team won the sectional championship. Although falling short the following week at the DeMotte Regional, overall it was a successful season for Slicer Golf.
