Chatham鈥檚 Caitlyn Moody is back home as Glenwood鈥檚 new athletic director

CHATHAM, Ill. — Caitlyn Moody was happy with the way her career was playing out at Illinois College in Jacksonville. She鈥檇 been serving as an assistant coach to the women鈥檚 basketball team since 2013, and then hung up the whistle in 2017 to make the switch to athletic administration full time. But when family and friends back in Chatham told her that the Athletic Director position at Glenwood High School (GHS) had opened up, the chance to return to her alma mater proved to be too good to pass up.

鈥淗onestly, high school was not on my radar,鈥 Caitlyn says. 鈥淚鈥檝e enjoyed my time in college athletics and being a part of a great campus community.聽 However, once I heard about this opportunity and went through the process, I knew it would be a good fit to come back home.

In April of this year, Caitlyn was officially announced as the GHS Director of Athletics and Title IX Compliance Officer.

Caitlyn played basketball and soccer during her years at Glenwood, earning all Central State 8 honors in hoops her senior season. She went on to the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) where she was a four-year starter on the basketball team. Caitlyn earned her Bachelor鈥檚 in Physical Education while at UMSL and later a Master鈥檚 in Sports Management at Missouri Baptist University, graduating Summa Cum Laude at both institutions.

After several stops along the way – and her career at IC, where she also served as Director of Athletic Facilities and Compliance and then worked her way up to Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations – Caitlyn is excited to be home again.

鈥淭he Chatham community has blown us away with the amount of people who have reached out to my family and me. This is why I took the job and we are excited about the future,鈥 she says.

In her new role, Caitlyn wants to provide student athletes an experience that will instill in them life lessons that extend well beyond the field of play and their high school years. She believes that Chatham is the perfect place to create such an environment.

鈥淧eople are drawn to the Chatham area because of its excellent school system and athletic programs,鈥 she says. 鈥淲e want the gyms and stadiums full and to give our student-athletes a positive experience. Nothing brings people from all walks of life together like sports can.鈥

Although Caitlyn鈥檚 playing days are behind her, she is always up for a three-point shooting contest. And she and her wife, Holly, do enjoy taking in sporting events while they are traveling.

鈥淲e are big on experiences, so we enjoy going to restaurants (big weekend brunch fans) or traveling to a new city or stadium. We have a puppy, Summitt, who is a fan favorite. Both of our families are close by, so we love being able to see them and watch our nephews and niece grow up,鈥 she says.
