New Bremen alum living out dreams as NFL cheerleader for Cincinnati Bengals
NEW BREMEN, Ohio — It takes a special type of athlete to have the courage to chase after their dreams wholeheartedly. An alumni of New Bremen High School, Chloe Schwartz has had experiences many of us can only dream about.
Chloe started dancing at the age of three and immediately knew that this was what she wanted to do. The life of a competitive dancer is one filled with intense training and prestigious competitions; Chloe dove into the competitive dance world head first and never looked back.
鈥淚t became a lifestyle,鈥� Chloe explains when reflecting on her early dance career.
She joined the New Bremen cheer team in junior high and continued to stay involved in cheerleading in addition to competitive dancing all throughout her high school years.
Chloe graduated from New Bremen High School in 2017 and decided to further her education at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, she decided to further her dance career by joining the UC Dance Team. She looks back on this time of her life fondly, remembering all of the memories she made performing at various events including UDA Nationals.
The COVID-19 pandemic hit during her senior year of college which put numerous restrictions on her dance season. Chloe wasn鈥檛 ready for her dance career to end so she and a friend decided to try out for the Cincinnati Bengals cheer squad in Spring of 2021.
After many high pressure rounds including a final public performance, Chloe was informed that she had made the team. She was to report to practice the following week where she and the rest of the squad would learn 20-40 dances that would be performed in the upcoming season.
The Cincinnati Bengals had an incredible season, which led Chloe and the rest of the team to Los Angeles, California for the Super Bowl. Chloe describes the experience of performing at the Super Bowl to be one she鈥檒l never forget. From various press interviews on national networks such as Fox and Friends, to making it on the big screen at SoFi Stadium, Chloe cherishes the memories she made with her team at one of the most prestigious athletic events in the country.
Some of the moments that she loves most are the ones spent with the devoted Cincinnati fans whose support radiates through the stands. Chloe loves the city of Cincinnati and is proud to represent the place she adores so much in every state she travels to.
When asked what advice she has carried with her throughout her journey, Chloe explains how the fact that her spot was never a guarantee became a massive source of motivation for her. She is often reminded that there are always other people trying to reach for her spot on the team so she must stay focused at all times.
鈥淵ou always have to continue to work hard to earn that spot, even after you already earned it.鈥� Chloe explains.
She emphasizes the importance of always working to better yourself in order to grow into the best athlete possible, regardless of what other people are doing.
She looks forward to the next season, excited to see what comes next. In addition to being an NFL cheerleader, Chloe also works as a full time nurse. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with her nursing degree in 2021, balancing her cheer and nursing life. At only 23 years old, Chloe has accomplished so much in both her academic and athletic careers. A wonderful role model for athletes everywhere, Chloe proves just how rewarding hard work and dedication can be.
