Brandon Goodman, TikTok鈥檚 BG2Fast, aims for next chance

SAVANNAH, Ga. (BVM) 鈥 Brandon Goodman may have more recognition for his nickname than his actual name. The former Savannah State University running back is best known for his amazing foot speed and his work doing speed drills on . Known by his username BG2Fast, Goodman has slowly built up his following on social media to help the next generation of athletes with their footwork.

Goodman鈥檚 TikTok journey began in January 2021 when he posted a video of one of his performances for Jenkins County High School in Millen, Georgia where he had a strong senior season rushing for over 1,500 yards, scoring five touchdowns and earning Georgia High School Association Class 1A Public School all-state honorable mention.

鈥淚t felt great knowing that I was an all-state running back,鈥 Goodman said. 鈥淭hat was the best year I ever had so it was great.鈥

Following his stellar year, Goodman first made the videos just out of boredom. Goodman instead found a swarm of fans who wanted to learn more about his story and how he gained his speed.

鈥淚 was just bored sitting in the house and I was really trying to find my gift because I knew I was good at sports, but I really wanted to know my skills,鈥 Goodman said. 鈥淥ne day I went outside and told my sister to record me. That day I posted and the next day it was going viral so I was like wait I can take this to the next level with my footwork. As it went viral people were mentioning how fast I was going and I didn鈥檛 realize it until they mentioned it.

鈥淓verybody was telling me how fast my footwork is and [asking] how did I get that fast,鈥 Goodman said. 鈥淚 was telling people I was naturally fast but I had to do some work in order to get to that next level. It was crazy.鈥

With that in mind, Goodman decided to pay it forward, posting videos of some of his workouts that he uses to build speed and strength. Now, Goodman has a following of over 179,000 followers on TikTok and over 20,000 followers on with some of his more popular videos reaching millions of views, the topping out at 4.8 million views.

鈥淚 feel like a lot of people want to know how to get faster but a lot of people don鈥檛 show how to get faster. I feel like I need to step up and encourage those guys to get faster,鈥 Goodman said. 鈥淟ast year in the summer I was just doing it for fun to show off how fast I am and this year I noticed I could take it to the next level. I needed to show what I could really do.鈥

Of course, Internet fame only started out as a side project, Goodman still had a football career to focus on. During his first year at Savannah State, Goodman failed to see the field and made the decision to transfer out of the school.

鈥淚 just entered the transfer portal to find new opportunities, that鈥檚 about it,鈥 Goodman said.

As of now, Goodman has still yet to find a destination. However, given his ability to generate thousands and millions of views on his social media, there have been thoughts of him forgoing the college route altogether to capitalize on his potential earnings through sponsored videos and . With that in mind, Goodman is leaving all his options open from reentering the college ranks and taking advantage of potential name, image and likeness deals or going pro with a team overseas.

鈥淚 feel like I鈥檓 prepared for the next level,鈥 Goodman said. 鈥淚鈥檝e been doing this workout for a year and six months so I鈥檓 ready. Knowing that I鈥檓 a small guy, a lot of people don鈥檛 make it out as a small football player and a small athlete so that has inspired me to do more.鈥

With decisions on his future still to be made, Goodman will continue to do what he has been鈥搘orking out and creating content to inspire others. Given his dedication to his craft and his natural abilities, all Goodman is looking for is a chance to prove himself on the football field whether that comes in the United States or not. As his journey continues, fans will be with him every step of the way, watching his quick feet take him to his destination.

鈥淸I鈥檓 going to continue] being a content creator,鈥 Goodman said. 鈥淎 lot of fans expect me to go to the NFL which I鈥檓 not looking at right now. I have too many things right now. I need to focus on right now and go to the next level with .鈥
