NICEVILLE, Fla. — A Q&A with Niceville High School tennis player, Cooper Seymour.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Cooper Seymour: To continue to improve my game and become the best team member I can be.
What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Seymour: Maintaining confidence is my biggest challenge, and I manage it by relying on trusting my practice and training.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Seymour: A quote that I look to for advice is one from Wayne Gretzky: 鈥淵ou miss 100% of the shots you don鈥檛 take.鈥�
What do you love about your sport?
Seymour: My favorite part of the sport is the challenge it brings physically and mentally, as well as the bond that forms during and after the season with all of my teammates.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Seymour: I like to listen to Bob Marley to calm myself and keep myself focused.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Seymour: I like to go to the gym, hang out with friends, and I鈥檓 also trying to get my private pilot鈥檚 license too.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Seymour: Tennis is thought of as being an individual sport, however, when I play on the high school team I have to motivate myself and my teammates to help get the win.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Seymour: The best advice I have been given is to just believe in myself!
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Seymour: Tightening up too much during matches, causing errors. I overcome this mistake by reminding myself to relax, stay loose, and have fun.

Seymour: I am very thankful to be highlighted in this article!聽 The only reason I believe I鈥檓 getting noticed is because of my teammates and our performance this season.聽 I want to thank my team, coaches, and Emerald Coast Tennis staff for the time and confidence in my abilities.聽 Looking forward to聽 another great season next year!
