Hartford Union multi-sport athlete AJ Pepin preparing for future in athletics
HARTFORD, Wis. — AJ Pepin is a graduating senior student-athlete at Hartford Union High School. AJ, a captain of his football and track teams, had a significant impact on both of his teams throughout his high school career. In football, he played for varsity since he was a sophomore and has been a varsity track athlete throughout his HS career. AJ will be furthering his education in the fall at the University of Northern Michigan and will be playing football for the Wildcats. AJ wants to be a physical education teacher and a coach when he graduates.
In football, he played running back and free safety. He received many athletic awards during his tenure at HUHS. Noting his accomplishments his senior year, in football AJ was his team鈥檚 Offensive MVP, team captain, WFCA all region team defensive back, 1st team all-conference running back, 1st team all-conference defensive back and 1st team all-conference utility player.聽 He was also selected to play in the WFCA all-star game in July.
In track and field, he was a hurdler, ran sprint relays and a long jumper. He was our team captain his junior and senior seasons. AJ qualified for the WIAA state championship meet as a junior in the 110m HH and as a senior in the 300m IH. He was his team鈥檚 MVP, He scored 367 varsity points between his junior and senior seasons. Noting his senior season accomplishments, a 2x 1st team all-conference 300m hurdler, 1st team all-conference 110m High Hurdler and was named the 2022 North Shore Conference Male Track athlete of the year. He was a 4-event qualifier for the WIAA Sectional track meet. AJ led his track team in 2022 to 6 team championships, including a conference relay championship, and WIAA Division 1 regional and Sectional championships.
The best part about AJ is his character and leadership abilities! He has always made the best out of his HS career. AJ is extremely respectful to all around him, always has a smile on his face and is a true leader during and away from competition. He is very enthusiastic about competing as an athlete and always worked to be the best he could be, and always pushed his teammates to be their best.聽 Our underclassmen have always looked up to AJ and they have appreciated his leadership. As AJ鈥檚 position coach in football and event coach and Head Coach in track, he is an athlete that I will never forget and enjoyed every memory we shared in both sports throughout his HS career!
