Freshman Sydney Kuhn is having a record-breaking track season for Swan Valley
SAGINAW, Mich. — Sydney Kuhn, a Swan Valley freshman track athlete, is having an unbelievable season.
This year Sydney set her high school record for the 400-meter dash at 58.48 seconds. She also set the record for the 800, 400, 200, and 4×2 relay in middle school. Sydney鈥檚 favorite memory is sitting in the tent at her meet and finding out about breaking the school record while she was looking through her phone.
She is working through a stress fracture from over using and pushing through pain. This has been a frustrating experience for Sydney, having to push through this set back and continue to move forward. Even with her injury she continues to cheer on and support her team from the sidelines.
Her favorite memory with Coach Luplow is having her at meets and always being able to talk to her, it鈥檚 very encouraging. She also has had a lot of help with her hurdles and blocks from Lauren Huebner, a graduated runner from SVSU. Sydney鈥檚 role model is Sydney McLaughlin, an Olympic runner that she looks up to. Her favorite quote from a coach is 鈥淚t鈥檚 a minor setback for a major comeback鈥� – Coach Luplow.
