Bayside High basketball has an unbelievable season
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — With Coach Martin Russ in his 16th season at the helm of the Marlins, the boys basketball team had an unbelievable season stunning all of Hampton Roads and the greater basketball world.
It has been 32 years since the boys basketball program at Bayside High School won a regional title. Under the direction of Coach Russ, seventh-seeded Bayside stunned top-seeded Indian River 60-47 to win the Class 5 Region A boys basketball championship. This is the most celebrating the Marlins basketball team has done since winning back-to-back state titles in 1990-91 under then Head Coach Ron Jenkins.
Coach Russ was named the Region 5A Coach of the Year due to his work and dedication to the team.
