Pawling HS golfer Henry Hauser leaving an immediate impact early
PAWLING, N.Y. —聽Henry Hauser is a young golfer on the rise. The 9th grade student from Pawling, New York has been surrounded by the sport of golf his entire life. Hauser’s family home overlooks the Quaker Hill Country Club, and a round of 9 holes has never been more than 100 feet away. Henry was basically raised at the Quaker Hill Country Club and was immediately drawn to the game. “The second I started hitting golf balls, I knew I wanted to play this sport,” said Hauser.
Henry started playing in youth tournaments at a young age. He first won the Quaker Hill Country Club Junior Championship at the age of nine in 2016, and has placed first in the youth tournament each of the past three years (2019-2021).
Henry joined the varsity golf team at Pawling High School this spring and has immediately gained recognition as one of the elite golfers in the league. Through the first several weeks of the season, playing alongside talented upperclassmen from large schools such as Carmel and Arlington, Henry has recorded the lowest score in three of his four matches.
A large part of Henry鈥檚 success this season has come from his outstanding short game. It鈥檚 exciting to watch – within a small sample size, Henry has already amazed his coaches Brian Ostyn and Steve Malone with long-range putts and chip-ins. He jokes that his golfing philosophy is 鈥淒rive for show. Putt for dough.鈥
In his first year on the varsity team, Henry has his sights set on becoming the youngest Pawling golfer to qualify for the Sectional Championship Tournament. He will also be playing in the Metropolitan PGA this summer and hopes to continue to improve in his craft.
Henry is just the start of a bright future for Pawling Golf. He currently plays alongside two 7th grade athletes who are capable of competing at the Varsity level, and the group will surely be one to watch out for over the next few seasons.
