Top 10 Oklahoma baseball players in the Class of 2022
OKLAHOMA CITY (BVM) 鈥 The baseball talent in Oklahoma may not be as profound as its neighbor to the south, but the Sooner State unquestionably produces some of the top baseball talent in the country.
Here are the top 10 players in the Class of 2022 for Oklahoma.聽
- Keaton Story, P/OF, Deer Creek
Deer Creek is the No. 1 team in District 6A-1 and Story is one of the reasons why they hold this spot. A force at the plate, the Wichita State commit can also take to the mound when his name is called. Story pitches a fastball, slider and changeup. He can also roam the outfield and make plays there.

- Reese Ratchford, C, Sulphur
Another Wichita State commit, Ratchford鈥檚 primary position, is behind the plate. He has a pop time of around two seconds, so anyone thinking about stealing should think twice. Ratchford also holds a .552 batting average. The 6-foot, 195-pound senior, can help the Shockers compete for an AAC Championship.聽
- Jackson Smith, 1B, Owasso
The top first baseman prospect, Smith is set to join Eastern Oklahoma once his senior campaign is over. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Smith will bring a steady presence once he reaches Wilburton.

- Parker Coil, LHP, Edmond Memorial
The Razorbacks will be happy to get a player like Coil. He features three pitchers: a fastball, a curveball and a changeup. Coil鈥檚 fastball max velocity has reached 90 mph, and his pitches will only improve with more work in Fayetteville.
2022 ( commit) starts off his spring sitting 87-89 T90 for in their opener. Also mixing a CH and big CB for strikes.

- Kade Shatwell, RHP, Edmond Santa Fe
The 6-foot-3, 170-pound Shatwell is just one of the two top prospects for the Edmond Santa Fe Wolves. With a fastball velocity around the low 90s and offspeed pitchers with good break, Shatwell has the potential to excel at the next level.聽
- Logan Lunceford, RHP, Edmond Santa Fe
Shatwell鈥檚 teammate, Lunceford is someone who can bring similar stuff to the mound. The 6-foot, 170-pound Lunceford has two good breaking pitches with a curveball and changeup. He also brings a fastball similar to Shatwell鈥檚. Lunceford will head to Missouri following the 2022 high school baseball season, and there he鈥檒l aim to help the Tigers capture their first SEC title.
- Caden Powell, SS, Clinton
One of the top prospects in Oklahoma, Powell is also a three-sport star for the Clinton Red Tornadoes. He received an offer to play football at Eastern Oklahoma but has decided to pursue his baseball dreams at OU. And not many can blame him for doing so. Scouts saw him perform well at the Super 60 event, where he had an exit velocity of 105.9 mph. The Sooner commit has the means to be a great hitter in Norman.

- Brennan Phillips, LHP, Owasso
Smith鈥檚 teammate, Phillips is arguably one of the best pitchers in the nation. Phillips played with the USA U18 national team in September 2021 when he pitched three innings, struck out five batters and allowed only three hits. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound southpaw can mix up his 91 mph fastball with substantial breaking pitches. Phillips can be one of the most coveted prospects in the upcoming MLB Draft if he can add more velocity to his fastball in Stillwater.聽
- Gabe Davis, RHP, Choctaw
Davis is another prospect who will be staying in his home state. An Oklahoma State commit, he is ready to team with Phillips and form a formidable 1-2 punch in the Big 12. Standing at 6-foot-7, Davis can draw comparisons to Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow. Davis鈥 fastball can reach 94 mph and he also features a curveball and slider to keep hitters off balance. Davis鈥檚 ceiling is very high and he could be hearing his name called in the MLB Draft as soon as this year.聽

- Jackson Holliday, SS, Stillwater
The son of former MLB star Matt Holliday, Jackson has been the heart and soul of the Stillwater Pioneer baseball team. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound senior was named a Perfect Game 2021 All-American. He was the only player from Oklahoma to be named to the ABCA/Rawlings High School Gold Glove Team. Jackson is ranked as the No. 12 prospect by . A prospect that provides a lot of power, the Oklahoma State commit might be collecting calls from MLB teams this July.
