Missouri鈥檚 top 10 baseball players in Class of 2022
COLUMBIA, Mo. (BVM) 鈥 The spring baseball season is in full swing in Missouri, and many familiar faces are dominating on the diamond once again. The Class of 2022 features some tremendous talent across the country, and that is no different in Missouri, as many future Division I college baseball stars continue to display their talents. Let鈥檚 take a look at the top 10 seniors playing in Missouri this spring.
1. Reese Robinett, 3B/P (Kennett High School, Kennett)
Robinett is a pure talent and one that Arkansas Razorback fans will be looking forward to having on their side in years to come. Last season, Robinett posted 10 home runs and 45 RBIs for Kennett, batting an impressive .408. Also a pitcher, the first team all-state performer went a perfect 4-0 on the bump as a junior with a solid 2.33 ERA. Not only does the senior standout put up good stats, but he鈥檚 also clutch, hitting a three-run homer with his team down two runs in the final inning of Kennett鈥檚 state semifinal game last season, eventually leading his team to a 16-5 win in the state title game. Robinett continued to show his talent and MLB Draft potential playing with Arkansas Sticks Baseball over the summer, and throughout the fall and winter at events like the Super 60 Pro Showcase.

2. Karson Milbrandt, P (Liberty High School, Liberty)
Another first team all-state performer last season, Milbrandt is also another Missouri prospect who has earned some MLB Draft hype over the past year. Last year, Milbrandt shined with the Prospect Development Pipeline league with his strong fastball that touches the mid 90s, and off-speed pitches including a slider, curveball and changeup. The 6-foot-3 pitcher has also gotten to work with former pros including Brad Penny while competing with USA Baseball last year, and Shaun Marcum who is the head coach at Liberty High School. With MLB scouts in attendance, Milbrandt struck out 12 batters in this year鈥檚 opener for the Blue Jays and has continued a strong season to this point. If he doesn鈥檛 go to the MLB, Milbrandt will head to a powerhouse Vanderbilt program which he recently signed with after decommitting from Mizzou.

3. Karter Muck, P (St. Pius X High School, Kansas City)
Muck was a big reason for the state championship brought home last season by St. Pius X. A first team all-state pitcher, Muck dazzled with a 1.90 ERA last year. One of the highlights was a 12-strikeout, complete-game performance against Jefferson in the MSHSAA Class 3 state semifinal. Muck has also had the opportunity to show what he has on the national stage, and continued doing so this past summer while suiting up for the Kansas City Royals鈥 scout program. The future Kansas Jayhawk has impressive talent and continues to get better and better on the mound.聽

4. Aiden Heberlie, OF (Valle Catholic High School, Sainte Genevieve)聽
Also a terrific basketball and football player at Valle Catholic, Heberlie is a talented all-around athlete who saves his best for the diamond. One of his greatest attributes is his speed, and that has been on full display during his senior season as Heberlie leads the St. Louis metro area with over 20 steals this spring. Also scoring over 25 runs with a couple of homers, Heberlie has found the same success that made him a first team all-state player last season. Playing with Adidas Athletics Baseball, Heberlie has gained plenty of national exposure and will join many on this list in playing for Mizzou.

5. Zack Stewart, 3B/P (Lebanon High School, Lebanon)
Stewart was a big reason for a successful 2021 season for Lebanon, batting well over .400 with seven home runs and nearly 20 RBIs. He was also a strong presence on the mound for the Yellowjackets with a 4-1 record and 65 strikeouts. This followed up similar numbers from his freshman year, as Stewart has been a fast riser through the state rankings in his high school tenure. He is continuing to show his high potential in his senior season, and like many of Missouri鈥檚 top prospects, Stewart will stay in state next year to play for the Missouri State Bears.

Stewart is a top player in Missouri. Checks off a lot of boxes. The Missouri State commit seems to only get better with time.

6. Jack Mosh, SS (St. Pius X High School, Kansas City)
Like his teammate Muck, Mosh was an integral part of St. Pius X鈥檚 state championship season last summer. As a team, the Warriors batted .383 last season, but a big reason for that was the eye-popping .557 average of Mosh. In the fall, Mosh was close to becoming a two-sport state champ in the same year as he led the Warriors鈥 football team to the Class 3 title game. Back on the diamond this spring, Mosh is part of a 9-3 squad that is top 10 in Prep Baseball Report鈥檚 small school state rankings. Next year, the talented shortstop will join the likes of Heberlie and a few others on this list as he plays for the Missouri Tigers.
7. Jake McCutcheon, SS (Francis Howell High School, St. Charles)
McCutcheon is building off a strong junior season in which he was an honorable mention all-state player with a hot start to the spring. At the Columbia Tournament, he helped the Vikings to a title with four homers and 10 RBIs while hitting .524. He is among the leaders in most statistical categories in the St. Louis metro area with a batting average around .480, four home runs, 27 RBIs, 35 runs and an .819 slugging percentage. The talented shortstop will join forces with Stewart when he suits up for Missouri State next year.

8. Grant Richars, SS (St. Dominic High School, O鈥橣allon)
Richars has taken a unique path to get to this point, but he is one of Missouri鈥檚 brightest stars. In his freshman and sophomore years, Richars attended Christian Brothers College High School. He would transfer to St. Dominic as a junior, but after missing his sophomore season due to the pandemic, Richars would also miss most of his junior season due to a torn UCL, requiring Tommy John surgery that sidelined him for several months. Officially committing to Coastal Carolina in 2020, Richars signed his national letter of intent last November, and began throwing again just weeks later. He has worked himself back into peak form this spring, batting around .450 with three home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs. Richars also has a .772 slugging percentage and .592 on base percentage in 2022.
9. Daniel Wissler, P/OF (Fort Zumwalt West, O鈥橣allon)
Despite being limited as a pitcher due to an injury in his junior season, Wissler was a star at the plate, setting a Fort Zumwalt West program record with 53 hits. He also added 23 stolen bases, 39 runs and 43 RBIs. After leading the Jaguars to the state championship game last season, Wissler will look to do the same this year. He鈥檚 off to a good start at the plate highlighted by his 24 runs and 18 steals, but finally being back on the mound is making a difference, as Wissler has gone 5-1 on the season with a 1.07 ERA and nearly 50 strikeouts. The son of Bill Wissler who spent time with the Minnesota Twins鈥 organization, Daniel will look to pursue his own professional baseball dreams, starting with a stop playing college ball at Mizzou.
10. Brock Lucas, P/IF (St. Elizabeth High School, St. Elizabeth)
There are many who could go in these last couple of spots, but Lucas is another talented player who continues to show promise. He will also suit up for the Missouri Tigers next season 鈥 becoming the first male athlete from his high school to earn a DI scholarship 鈥 but first, he is finishing his career strong at St. Elizabeth. Lucas has many adjectives that could describe him, but one of the top is winner. As a freshman, he came in during the seventh inning of St. Elizabeth鈥檚 state championship contest to close out the game and preserve the team鈥檚 state title. Last year, he pitched a three-hit shutout in the state semifinals to get his team back to the championship game. Striking out 69 batters and allowing just four runs the entire season, Lucas also displayed plenty of ability at the plate with 35 hits and 18 runs. With a fastball touching the mid 90s, the sky鈥檚 the limit for Lucas once he gets to Mizzou.
