Q&A with John Glenn Bobcats soccer standout Logan Duty
BAY CITY, Mich. — Logan Duty, a senior boys soccer player at John Glenn High School, recently signed with the men’s soccer program at Northwood University.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?聽
Logan Duty: I want to take soccer as far as I can. I truly love playing and want to continue playing as long as I can. I hope to win at Northwood in the fall season and help advance their program.
What is the best piece of advice you鈥檝e received from a coach or mentor?
Duty: Sports are a mental battle as much as they are a physical battle. If you lose your head you have already lost the game. You have to stay calm under whatever pressure may be placed on you. If you start cracking under the pressure and doubting yourself, you are going to play worse. The difference between playing with and without confidence is extreme.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Duty: I typically will wear a pair of ankle socks under the socks for my uniform.
How would you describe your personality?
Duty: I would say I鈥檓 a very happy, kind person. I try to make others happy as it makes me happy. I enjoy playing games, eating food, spending time with my friends, and playing with my dogs.
What has being a member of a team taught you?聽聽
Duty: Being a member of a team is one of the greatest things about sports in general. It gives you a group of friends that will do a lot for you if you need it. I have friends who I still talk to often that I haven鈥檛 played with in a couple of years. Teams also show that not everything is about individual greatness, but more focused on the bond and chemistry between a group of players.
