John Adams softball crowned Columbus North Tournament champions
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The South Bend Adams Varsity Softball team took the win in this year’s Columbus North Tournament. They defeated both Columbus North and Clay City to clinch their spot in the Championship Game against East Central. The Lady Eagles defeated East Central with a final score of 11-5.Haleigh Smith put Adams on the board early in the game with a solo home run. Emily Kidwell followed up with a hard hit double that brought in Emma Schell to score. In the fourth inning, Smith’s grand slam let Kidwell, Jenna Trimberger, and Amanda Notestine join her in scoring on the play.Two runs in the fifth inning from Gabby Kovac and Chloe Prickosovich secured the win for Adams. Hailie Charmat pitched the final four innings, allowing just 1 hit and giving up 1 run while striking out 6 batters.
