What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Lewis Wright Metcalf: Push my limits and see what I am capable of.
What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Metcalf: Injuries 鈥� come back stronger than before.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Metcalf: Never quit…even if the outcome is not what you expected.
What do you love about your sport?
Metcalf: Variety and competition.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Metcalf: Focus on the task at hand.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Metcalf: Practicing sports with friends.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Metcalf: Everybody has to do their part and even if one person does less than others, it still contributes to the end goal.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Metcalf: 鈥淚n Sports, play smarter, not harder.鈥� (per wrestling coach)
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Metcalf: At one point, I did not make the sport fun and it felt like a chore…the key to success is to make the sport fun.
Anything else you鈥檇 like to add?
Metcalf: Always try new things…even if they seem scary and difficult, how will you ever know if you like it or not, if you never try to begin with…for Example: when I tried out for the wrestling team, I didn鈥檛 think I could stick with it, but over time, I gained self-confidence and made it fun.
