Farragut鈥檚 Lexi Foley on the fast track towards her future as a Chattanooga commit
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Toeing the line is a familiar term with track athletes, and Farragut High School’s Lexi Foley knows all about the anticipation of lining up for a race.
鈥淲hen it鈥檚 a big meet and expectations are set high,鈥� Lexi said, 鈥渨alking to the line is a deafening silence. Everything around you just blurs, and it鈥檚 just you and the line.鈥� The silence is broken by the sound of the starter鈥檚 gun, the noise of the crowd, and her coach鈥檚 voice, and this is the moment when Lexi begins to shine.
Lexi may be pacing herself during a race, but she is on the fast track toward her future. She is committed to running cross country and track & field in the Fall of 2022 at the University of
Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lexi has lettered in track for four years at Farragut High, as well as lettering three years in cross country and soccer. She qualified and competed at the New Balance Indoor Track Nationals in New York this past Spring.
Lexi鈥檚 biggest accomplishment this season was beating her best time of 2:20:00 in the 800 meter. She used her coach鈥檚 strategies and ran a 2:19:69. To Lexi, a goal achieved is a goal created and she has laid out new challenges for herself. The stage is set for Lexi and her relay partners to compete for a state championship in the 4×800. While Lexi鈥檚 personal goals are front and center, she cares deeply about her teammates鈥� accomplishments as well. When speaking about her track and soccer feats, Lexi is quick to acknowledge the effort of her teammates for a successful season.
鈥淗onestly, there is no better feeling in the world than being able to achieve a goal that you have worked so hard for,鈥� said Lexi, 鈥渆specially when you are able to accomplish it at the same time as good friends.鈥�
