John Curtis extends consecutive LHSAA girls basketball state championship streak to six

RIVER RIDGE, La. — The John Curtis Lady Patriots have won six consecutive LHSAA state championships. Even though they had a rough season they have beat many odds. With that being said, many people did not expect that they could win another state title due to having such a young team.

In order for the Lady Patriots to gain the sixth consecutive state championship title, they had to begin the Division I playoffs by defeating C.E. Byrd. After defeating Byrd, 72-30, they then moved to the semifinals which was held at the Alario Center to face off with Scotlandville High School. After the rough victory over Scotlandville, 49-42, they moved to the state championship to play against McKinley High School. The John Curtis Lady Patriots crushed McKinley, 67-47, to win their sixth consecutive state championship title.

Sophomore Heaven Jordan received Most Valuable Player. Coach Temeka Johnson was named the Coach of the Year two years in a row.
