Sierra Canyon WR Lavon Brown eager to show why he鈥檚 one of the best in the Class of 2023
CHATSWORTH, Calif. (BVM) 鈥 Lavon Brown feels as though he鈥檚 one of the premier pass catchers in the country, even if most people don鈥檛 know it yet.听
鈥淚 feel like I鈥檓 one of the best receivers in the Class of 2023 honestly,鈥 Brown, a wide receiver, said. 鈥淚鈥檓 not being cocky, just manifesting it. I feel like my rankings aren鈥檛 high enough for how much work I鈥檝e been putting in, you know, in the dark.听
鈥淚 feel like I can beat any corner out that steps up to the plate.鈥听
Brown did just that in early February at the National Preps combine where nearly 500 athletes from 33 different states competed in Las Vegas. He had an MVP performance, showing off his innate ability to get in and out of breaks with burst and finish catches with soft hands, and was on a short list of the top overall receiver at the event.听
鈥淏rown had the best one-on-one session of the day and made it look easy,鈥 Greg Biggins, national recruiting analyst for 247Sports,. 鈥淗e has strong hands and can get deep. He鈥檚 polished and was able to get easy separation all camp long.鈥听
Brown impressed again less than a month later, this time in Los Angeles, at the Rivals Camp Series where he made easy work of future Power 5 cornerbacks.听
Had a good time In LA this weekend competing!

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wideout will once again get used to the California sunshine after transferring from Desert Pines High School (Nevada) for his senior season. Brown was born in Orange County and will now return to the Sunshine State at Sierra Canyon High School.听
鈥淚t鈥檚 the preparation for college and just a better opportunity,鈥 Brown said of his transfer to Sierra Canyon. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of new stuff I haven鈥檛 seen before but there鈥檚 a lot of modest, nice and honest people. It鈥檚 a good football program and good learning experience.鈥听
The preparation for college is key because Brown has a bright future at the next level.听
The nation鈥檚 83rd-ranked wide receiver and California鈥檚 70th-ranked prospect in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports holds offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Florida State, Oregon, USC and more. Brown was in Eugene with the Ducks in late January for a visit that went well, but another school out West has made the biggest impression on him thus far.听
鈥淐olorado State just treated me with so much love, respect and honesty and that鈥檚 all I really want from a school,鈥 Brown said.听
Brown said he hopes to make his decision in May, long before his senior campaign and first season with Sierra Canyon. The Trailblazers went 7-5 in 2021 before falling in the Division 2 CIF-SS semifinals to Orange Lutheran.听
Adding a talent like Brown should certainly help Sierra Canyon鈥檚 on-field product, and a strong senior season should give the newest Trailblazer the recognition he deserves.听
鈥淚鈥檓 just trying to prove that I鈥檓 number one, man, honestly,鈥 Brown said. 鈥淚鈥檝e been a humble guy for a long time but now it鈥檚 just about showing the critics and all the scouts that it鈥檚 me and it鈥檚 been me.鈥听
