Rock Hill girls basketball lives up to expectations in winning state championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. — The community is still celebrating the State Championship win for RHHS Girls basketball. On March 3rd, in the USC Aiken Convocation Center, the Bearcats defeated Summerville High School, 52 to 44. The win follows an amazing season for the Bearcats. In the preseason, the team was ranked No. 2 in the state. While they lost three games in a row early in the season, they came back to win 16 consecutive games since January, earning the 5A Championship for Region 4 along the way.
The team is one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the state, but they aren鈥檛 only stellar shooters, they are also great students. Coach Kenny Orr couldn鈥檛 be more proud of the team and their accomplishments.
鈥淚鈥檓 so grateful and excited that the young ladies that represent Rock Hill High Girls Basketball were able to win a State Championship. Their commitment and hard work paid off as the season unfolded, and it carried over into the SC State 5A playoffs,鈥� he says. 鈥淚鈥檓 honored and blessed to have coached an amazing group of student athletes.鈥� Coach Orr was also recently named Coach of the Year by Legend Rings for the team鈥檚 outstanding year.
