BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School Figure Skating Team competed at the Ohio High School Team Figure Skating Championships held Feb 5 and 6 at Thornton Park in Shaker Heights. The team is composed of six skaters: Faye Albrecht ’24, Mackenzie Gray ’22, Laney Karpowicz ’22, Chloe O’Brien ’22, Meghan Schuster ’25 and Lauren Shivey ’25.

The Lady Bees entered 10 individual events and won 6 medals:

• 1st Place O’Brien- Senior Moves in the Field to Music
• 1st Place O’Brien- Novice Showcase
• 3rd Place Shivey- Excel Novice Freeskate
• 3rd Place Schuster- Pre-Silver Solo Pattern Dance
• 3rd Place Albrecht- Excel Preliminary Freeskate
• 3rd Place Karpowicz- Excel Pre-Preliminary Freeskate

The ladies also competed on two Maneuver Teams. The Intermediate Maneuver Team of O’Brien and Shivey placed 2nd Jumps and 3rd in Steps.

Seniors Karpowicz, Gray, and O’Brien were recognized during the Senior Ceremony on Feb. 5.

Overall, the team earned 50.5 points, placing 8th out of the 12 teams competing this year. The Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School Figure Skating Club was formed in 2018 and this is their third year competing at States.
