Decatur area girls soccer stars who shine with national travel club Eclipse
DECATUR, Ill. — Decatur Area has many promising young athletes, but four young girls have stood out on the soccer field. These four girls have been named some of the best soccer players in the state, two of them are of the best in the entire Midwest! These girls grew up playing for Midstate soccer out of Decatur, but now play for a national travel club, Eclipse.
Joella Livingston is a Sophomore at St. Teresa High School. She was chosen as one of the best 18 kids in the state and one of the best 50 kids in the Midwest. Joella has participated with the Midwest Regional Olympic Development Program in 2020 and 2021, as well as a member of the Illinois Olympic Development Program 2018-2021.聽 She also plays basketball for St. Theresa.
Lucy Corley is a Freshman at St. Teresa. Her Eclipse team just won the IYSA State Championship after winning the Presidents Cup National Championship in the spring.聽 She has also been a member of the Illinois Olympic Development Program from 2019-2021.聽 Lucy also plays basketball for St. Theresa.
Her sister Sol茅 Corley is an 8th grader at Holy Family and also plays for Eclipse, one of the top teams in the state for her age group.聽 She made the Illinois Olympic Development Program in 2020.聽 She also plays basketball for Holy Family.
Josie Morelli is in 7th grade at Mt. Zion. Her Eclipse team made it to the IYSA State Finals last year and is considered one of the top teams in the state.聽 She is also a member of the Midwest Regional Olympic Development Program, as well as the Illinois Olympic Development Program.聽 She also plays basketball at Mt. Zion.
These four girls have been working hard on and off the field, and with their national involvement and involvement with the Olympic Development Program, they are sure to go far in their soccer careers, make sure to keep an eye on them in the future!
