Verona Area HS girls gymnastics shows great potential in start to the season
VERONA, Wis. — VAHS Girl’s Gymnastic Team is off to a great start!聽 After having the first two dual meets of the season postponed due to Covid guidelines, they have resumed competitions. The Mt Horeb invite on January 8, 2022, was the first meet for the Varsity team.聽聽The JV team hosted their first dual meet of the season on January 11, 2022.聽 It was also the first meet in the new gym and according to Coach Rachael Hauser, it went very well!
“We placed 1st in our division and 2nd overall at the Mt Horeb Invite (140.85), and also won both the Varsity (140.25 to 121.625) and the JV competition (119.65) at the dual meet against Madison United.聽 Both teams are looking good so far, though we aren’t quite at full strength on either team due to some injuries, so we will be looking to build up over the next month and return our injured athletes to the lineup”, says Coach Hauser.
As for whats next, Coach Hauser is optimistic and has goals for success, “I believe we had the potential to set some new school records this season (it’s possible we may have already broken one but it’s a real challenge trying to find our historic records from the early years of the team), and our ultimate goal is to make a return trip to State Meet in March”.
