Evan Coffey is the newest recruit for Auggies football

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. — Have you ever heard somebody say, 鈥淭his kind of thing runs in his family!鈥 That is the exact thing we鈥檙e going to talk about in this article. A family where football is passed as a heritage to its successors. Meet an emerging star in football: Evan Coffey.

Coffey is a remarkable young athlete. He started playing for the Two Rivers High School varsity football team in 2018, and he also played in junior varsity football. In 2019, he also played for the Two Rivers High School boys varsity basketball team.

As a kid, Coffey wanted to be a football player. He was inspired by his father and coaches Sandifer and Larry Suggs.

鈥淚鈥檇 say my inspiration was really my dad, because he introduced me to the game and has taught me just about everything I know,鈥 Coffey said. 鈥淲e could talk hours and hours about football. I think seeing me improve over the years motivates me to keep getting better and better. I鈥檓 ultra competitive, I don鈥檛 like to lose, so I鈥檇 say that it helps with motivation towards football.鈥

Football is everything for Coffey. He thanked everyone in one of his tweets and admired everyone鈥檚 contribution to his football career, including his trainers, coaches, family, and most importantly, his father.

鈥淚鈥檝e always been around football, my dad鈥檚 been a coach since before I was born and have always been around the teams he coached,鈥 Coffey said. 鈥淚 used to be ball boy for him and his teams that was some of the most fun times I鈥檝e had with football to be honest. Football is always just been something I鈥檝e loved, whether that was watching the Vikings on Sunday or playing at the park with my friends. I just love the game of football and am glad I have an opportunity to play for another four years.鈥

His passion for football is unmatchable, and every single time he enters the ground, he tries his level best to perform well and gives his valuable contribution to the team.

In November, Coffey announced via Twitter that he will be joining Augsburg University football team next year.

Coffey chose Augsburg University over other institutions as he thinks that this school can make him a successful football player through recognition as well as opportunities.

鈥淚 chose Augsburg because I felt like it was the right fit for me and was where I could grow as a man and a football player,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 clicked well with Coach Lamker and Coach Wilkie and never looked back. Augsburg is only like a 10-20 minute drive from my house, so being able to see family and friends was a big part of my decision.鈥

As a football player, he is excited to be a part of Augsburg University. Coffey will be looking forward to this year鈥檚 program. He is optimistic that his team will be triumphant in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) football.

鈥淚 just aspire to be the best player I can, give 100% effort at all times and get my teammates better at all times,鈥 he said. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to see what this program has to bring, and I think we can turn some heads not only in the MIAC but all of Division III.鈥

Two Rivers High School is proud of Coffey鈥檚 achievements. A recent commitment to Augsburg will surely help him evolve as a player, and this program would give him immense exposure in his football career.
