The Martin County girls basketball team is having a winning season
STUART, Fla. — It鈥檚 almost midway through the season, and the Martin County High School鈥檚 Girls Varsity Basketball team is showing their opponents that they are a force to be reckoned with. As of this writing, their overall record for the 2021/2022 season was 7-4. This includes their 2021 Preseason Invitational wins over the Oxbridge Academy of The Palm Beaches and Jupiter High School.听
Their impressive roster includes Jasleen 鈥淛azzy鈥 Nguyen, a senior guard who scored a game high of 22 points to help take the team to a 57-27 win over Jupiter in their Preseason Invitational. In that same game, Denasia Hilaire, a junior guard, added 11 points for the team while junior guard, Kaylee Gumina, added nine. The Tigers would go on to play Jupiter later in the season and scored another victory with a 48-39 win.
On December 3rd, the Tigers traveled to play Treasure Coast for the second time, where they swept the season series with a 40-31 win. In that game, senior forward Anna Witt rallied the Tigers by scoring a team high of 12 points. 听听
Other notable wins for the MCHS Girls Varsity Basketball team have been a 46-31 win over South Fork High School, a 63-55 win over West Boca Raton Community High School, and a 46-29 win against their Treasure Coast opener.听
Their next game, on January 4th, is against Vero beach Senior High School. We wish them the best of luck as push forward this season!
