New athletic director at South Brunswick HS
SOUTHPORT, N.C. — Mr. James Woods was born in Roxboro, NC the youngest of 8. He graduated from Person Sr. High School in 1989 where he participated in Football and Baseball. Mr. Woods played college baseball at Norfolk State and High Point University. He also coached baseball for a few years at High Point University.
Mr. Woods scouted professional baseball for the Cincinnati Reds from 1995 to 2001. His first teaching position was in Broward County Florida. After teaching there a few years, he moved back to NC. Woods has been in education for 19 years serving as a Physical Education teacher, Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal and Athletic Director. Woods has also coached fall and summer baseball for the Richmond Braves for 11 years and the last 5 with the Evoshield Canes.
SBHS is excited to have Mr. Woods on staff beginning January 3, 2022. We wish Ms. Harward the best as she moves on to her new position.
