Kyle Rosa balances life as diabetic and multi-sport athlete at Brookfield HS
BROOKFIELD, Conn. — Senior Kyle Rosa has been 鈥淢r. Reliable鈥� for the 2021 Bobcats as a multi-sport athlete playing both baseball and football. On this year鈥檚 football team, Kyle鈥檚 position? He plays everywhere. On defense he is the middle linebacker with 86 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT, and 3 fumble recoveries. On offense Kyle plays tailback/fullback and slot. He has rushed for 183 yards, 2 TD鈥檚, 73 yds receiving, 1 TD and as kick returner has 207 total return yards.
All this despite playing with diabetes. During games, Kyle goes through ups and downs with his blood sugar which leaves him not feeling his best.聽 He comes off and regulates when he needs to, and gets back into the game knowing he isn鈥檛 feeling 100%. But he plays as if he was. 聽Kyle is a 鈥済amer鈥�, showing up ready to play every night and at a high level.
As 鈥淢r. Reliable鈥� his teammates look to him as their leader. His coaches admire what he brings to the team. After games can be just as tough. Kyle many times has had to endure long road trips not feeling well and waiting to have dinner yet never complained.
Having 11 Kyle Rosa鈥檚 on the field would translate into a football state championship without a doubt.聽 In addition to his football prowess, Kyle is also the catcher on the BHS baseball team.
